USA Hockey Announces U.S. World Junior Roster
All 25 Players Have USHL Ties, Including Three Current Players
USA Hockey announced Tuesday the roster for the 2022 U.S. National Junior Team, which includes 25 players, all of which have USHL ties. The roster will represent the United States at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship in Red Deer, Alberta from December 26, 2021 to January 5, 2022.
All three players currently on USHL rosters who were invited to camp made the final roster, including Lincoln Stars goaltender Kaidan Mbereko, as well as United States Development Program (NTDP) forward Logan Cooley and goaltender Dylan Silverstein. All three players are eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft and are all committed to Division I schools, with commitments to Boston College (Silverstein), Colorado College (Mbereko) and University of Notre Dame (Cooley).
Notes:
- All 25 players on the final roster have USHL ties.
- Of the 25 players, four are NHL Draft eligible in 2022 and 21 have already been Drafted by NHL teams.
- The roster features six First Round Draft picks including Matthew Beniers (Seattle Kraken, 2021, #2), Luke Hughes (New Jersey Devils, 2021, #4), Jake Sanderson (Ottawa Senators, 2020, #5), Matthew Coronato (Calgary Flames, 2021, #13), Chaz Lucius (Winnipeg Jets, 2021, #18), Mackie Samoskevich (Florida Panthers, 2021, #24).
- Of the 25 rostered players, 20 are currently playing NCAA Division I hockey and three are committed to play DI hockey in the future. The Big Ten's University of Michigan and University of Minnesota lead the way with three players each while Harvard University, University of Minnesota Duluth and University of North Dakota each have two players each. Eight other DI schools each have one player represented.
- Jack Peart (Fargo Force, 2019-21) was added to the roster late and made the final cut.

The 2021-22 season will be the USHL's 20th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league. The USHL had 50 players selected at the 2021 NHL Draft, marking the fourth-straight season with 50-or-more USHL players selected in the Draft. More than 800 league alumni are currently on NCAA Division I rosters, further establishing the USHL as the world’s foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
