Capitols Hockey Add Two Coaches to it's Staff

The Madison Capitols announced the hiring of Ross Kovacs and Ryan Secor as Assistant Coach's for the 2022-23 season.

Kovacs and Secor will join Corey Leivermann & Gaven Bickford as they collectively prepare for their second season with the Madison Capitols.

“Very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Madison Capitols organization" says Kovacs. "Being able to work with Corey & Gaven, along with very talented players is something I am very excited for. I can't wait to be in Madison and get the 2022-2023 season started".

Kovacs joins the Capitols after spending last year as an assistant coach for the College of St. Scholastica (NCAA D-III). He was also a coach and skill's instructor for the Minnesota Advancement Program, an elite hockey training program in Minnesota before joining St. Scholastica. Before that he was an assistant coach for the Ogden Mustangs in the WSHL. Originally from Dickinson, ND, where he grew up and played high school hockey for Dickinson High in North Dakota. Before graduating high school, he played 2 seasons for Russell Stover U18s (AAA). He played his college hockey at Gustavus Adolphus where he studied Exercise Physiology before getting into coaching hockey.

“I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to join a great organization here at Madison” says Secor. “Thank you to the entire coaching staff for giving me the opportunity and believing in me. I am very excited to get the season started”. 

Secor joins the Capitols after spending the last three years in Wilkes-Barre, PA, working for Wilkes University and Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights.  At Wilkes University, Ryan served as Assistant Men’s Ice Hockey Coach. With the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights, Secor served as Head Coach and Resident Coordinator. After his playing career at Nazareth College, the Rensselaer, NY, native began his coaching career with North American Hockey Systems that worked with youth hockey to professional players to develop their games into elite level players.
